Marcie Maxwell for State Representative Corp.

Dear friends and colleagues,     
                                                                                    

As a freshman legislator in 2009, I’ve been honored to serve the people, organizations, and businesses of my legislative district communities of Bellevue, Beaux Arts, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Newcastle, and Renton.  I went to work right away on important issues, building relationships, leading efforts for efficient and effective policies for our region’s future, and passing a balanced budget for Washington State.  And, I began my first legislative term with the most difficult economic conditions and budget we’ve experienced in decades.

I’m pleased with my committee assignments on the Education Committee; the Community Development, Economic Development & Trade Committee; and the Capital Budget Committee.  My committees compliment the roles of my seatmate, Representative Judy Clibborn, who is the House Transportation Chair and on the Health Care Committee.  Together, our work is well suited to the priorities of this great district where a growing number of people choose to live, work, learn, and play.  Our quality of life here requires smart investments in our public schools, early learning, higher education, our ability to attract and keep good business and jobs, improved transportation systems, housing choices, preserving our environment, energy efficiency, safe and healthy choices for all - and our accountability to you in good or bad times.  

Now that the session in Olympia is over, I’ve been spending my time meeting many people and learning even more about what’s important to you and how I can be most helpful in the future.

                                                                                                                                                                                                      
The road to my election success last November was long, tough, and expensive. 

Like it or not, the House of Representative’s term is just two years…….so I’m kicking off my campaign right now for 2010.
